Day
1- Jackson, WY
Departing Salt Lake City, this fast favorite
starts off in the rustic cowboy town of Jackson, Wyoming. Absorb
the relaxed western feel of town, see the rodeo, and raft the
rapids on the good old Snake River.
Day
2- Grand Tetons National Park
On to the Grand Tetons and all their postcard charm. Hike
yourself up the trails for a rewarding view that is hard to
forget *scenic*. If you want to ride on a nice horsie, we
can take you to one of the best and most beautiful ranches
around for an unforgettable horseback ride.
Day
3, 4 - Yellowstone National Park
Next up we will explore the wonders of our first national
park in Yellowstone. See the greatest concentration of geysers
in the world, see the boiling mudpools, see the majestic Grand
Canyon of Yellowstone, and have a dip in the ‘hot on
one side, cool on the other’ hot springs. Wildlife in
Yellowstone is like nowhere else. Elk, moose, bear, wolves
(rare), buffalo, coyote, ram, and bald eagle are a few of
our animal friends you are likely to see.
Day
5, 6 - Glacier National Park
Now for the Montana portion of the trip. Glacier National
Park is a well-kept secret and a gem of a park. Breathe the
crisp, clean mountain air while you hike in this unreal setting
of abundant natural beauty and feel like Grizzly Adams when
you are done. There are over 700 miles of trails here making
it a hikers paradise. This is the next best thing to Alpine
hiking in the Alps.
Days
7- Missoula
Missoula is a top-ranked adventure town and great place to discover. A young and energetic mountain town, it is the perfect launchpad for outdoor adventure of all
types. This is one of the best places to try riverboarding
(going down a river with a board and fins), and if you
don’t want to get wet then how about some mountain
biking? If you want to take it easy you can meander
through the funky downtown area for fun or walk the
popular hike’n’bike trail along the river.
Like a bumper sticker says, “MONTANA, THE LAST
GREAT PLACE.”
Day
8- Salt Lake City
Today is a travel day as we start the second part of
the tour
Day
9, 10 - Arches National Park/ Moab
The glory rolls on as we take it to Arches National
Park w/ it’s unique and unforgiving landscape.
Delicate Arch is a must-see, you will wonder how Balanced
Rock stays up, and Landscape Arch is simply awesome.
And since we are in Moab, the mountain biking capital
of the world, it might be a good idea to get a mountain
bike for the day to hit the legendary Slickrock Trail.
If you don’t like mountain biking you can canoe
the nearby Colorado River or hit the funky downtown
area. Or substitute w/ an off-road jeep, hummer, or
ATV tour.
Day
11 Lake Powell
Lake Powell is next. Its gorgeous super-blue and temperate
water makes a dip here most refreshing. Laze on the
rock beach or revitalize with a leisurely swim in the
cove. We can also see the rare slot canyons on a walk-through
tour of these ever-so-smooth element-sculpted formations
(bring your camera).
Day
12 Grand Canyon National Park
We then make way towards the incomparable Grand Canyon.
Isn’t the Grand Canyon on everyone’s list?
And with good reason! Take in the majestic sunrise and
sunset. Hike the trails or putz around at the Rim while
enjoying the breathtaking views and looking for the
elusive California Condor that lives here.
Days
13, 14 Zion National Park
The adventure continues to Zion National Park where
the hiking trails and surrounding scenery will knock
you on your ear. This may be the best hiking we have
found- if you want tough try Angels Landing for a rewarding
experience, and if you want medium or soft then hike
to the Emerald Pools. The next day is for canyoneering
(hiking in a river where the river is the trail) for
the adventurous type. In the afternoon we will do some
extreme tubing on the Virgin River. You wont want to
miss it.
Day 15 Bryce Canyon National Park
Today we visit one of the most unique parks anywhere,
Bryce Canyon- nature’s sculpture garden. Hanging
out with the hoodoos, this is a strangely spectacular
landscape with an explosive contrast of colors, and
you’ll want your camera during this hike. Later
in the day we’ll make a splash doing some whitewater
rafting down a scenic Central Utah route.
Day
16 Las Vegas
We say our goodbyes and return to Salt Lake City to
wrap up a great journey.
